Blue sky. Not a cloud in sight! (Having said that, it’s now hacking down with sleet/rain, and hovering just over zero)
Update on the Enduro vs UWA; Sticking with UWA at the moment. RunGap is sending _some_ of the info over to Garmin and – if I can be arsed – Sauce for Strava can accomplish the rest. You can’t beat the integration of the UAW in my Apple world, and the interaction with the apps on the the iPhone is trumped only by Apple Wallet. Nori isn’t really binging a lot to the party at the moment – but I’m hoping that will change as it grows up a bit.
I do miss the more detailed analysis provided by the Enduro (and it’s insane battery life/solar charging etc.) – and I’ll definitely be wearing it for long/multi-day hikes etc. I’m hoping that UWA4 brings more granularity to the table and/or Apple and Garmin decide to open up their APIs to get around the “one or the other” scenario.
I took the console off of Doris and found ………. lots of wires. (I also managed to lose one of the securing screws for the stereo. Well. I say “lose”, but it’s somewhere around the driver’s footwell – only problem being it’s about the size of a grain of sand). I’ve discovered that the – apparently broken DAB aerial – is powered, I can see where I believe the power leads for the stereo disappear into a bunch of spliced cables, but I have no idea where they are actually connected to whatever is supplying ignition power in the vehicle.
Given the temperature rising above zero, I could disconnect the various plugs from the stereo and try to dig a bit deeper. But, at the time, I was more concerned about breaking something in Doris – so I’ve put it all back together to reconsider my approach.
The Mam Tors from Wildsole arrived – and they’re superb. I got some sandals from Teva last year to replace the ones that had worn through, but their sole purpose in life – when wet – appears to be how much damage they can inflict on my feet.
Just waiting for the deluge of sleet to stop before taking Clivedog out, and then it will be taking Grand-daughterL home – and seeing if I really managed to put Doris back together without breaking anything else.
