Great fun yesterday morning. No. Honestly.

TV dicking around, Homebridge dicking around, Home Assistant dicking around ….

Figuring (wrongly) that the Decos were playing up somehow, I rebooted them which – for a short while – fixed the TV. Homebridge though, was thoroughly unhappy with life in general. The plugins couldn’t reach their repositories, API authentications were failing – just general disaster all round.

After much swearing, it turns out that switching from the default DNS to Cloudflare wasn’t such a good idea after all. Whilst “normal” traffic was flying, it doesn’t get on with home servers at all. Switching back to default solved all of that.

Still loads of other unrelated problems so the nuclear option of rebooting (actually unplugging, and plugging back in the power) the Zzoomm modem was called for.

Everything was fine other than the good old Sky Glass* (why, oh why, did I ever get that bloody thing). In the end, unplugging it from the mains for ten minutes seems to have solved it’s issues for now.

*This apparently great piece of tech appears to be the most poorly constructed back of nails since time began. I’m this -><- far from lobbing it in the field, buying a new TV, and going back to the Apple TV. (In fact, as I type this, I’m getting even closer)
