So I succumbed …

Ivybridge, Devon – BT Central Plus.
You’re right – you got reported to abuse@btbroadband.com – feel clever now?

It’s been a long time hasn’t it – but I’ve been busy. In fact one of the busy things that’s been bugging me is what I’m using now – the xmlrpc.php plugin for OpenOffice to post these things from my desktop rather than from within the site. (Hopefully it’s working now – otherwise this will be a complete and utter waste of time)
I’ve also been battling with getting Billet to work correctly with a Joomla installation that I’m setting up for the department. All the URLs in the auto-emails were coming back with out a domain – which was pretty useless. It all boiled down to the fact that Joomla 1.5 doesn’t use the live_site variable any more, so I had to hard code that into the configuration.php
Other than that, I’m the proud owner of a new tent and a new camera. The tent is ridiculous – having been up in the garden – weighing next to nothing and easily big enough for me and a rucksack. (Wish they had those around when I used to do the KIMM)
The camera is purely so that I can have something to pop in the pocket – without needing to unzip a camera bag and then fiddle and diddle with various settings like I need to with my “big”(tm) camera. So far, very impressive. See if you can work out which took what from the Flickr photostream.

As you can see, I’ve amended the geo-location icon on the right to use Google Latitude (as that’s the one that is generally live) – add me if you want …….. the domain name of this site at gmail.com.
I’ve also added Ovi to the N95 8Gb – have a dig around for Ragingaardvark and, again, add me as a contact if you want.
Who knows, I may even jump into bed with the devil one day and get a Twitter account too.

… it’s been a long time again hasn’t it. Sorry – I’ve been totally snowed under at home and work, so not had a chance to put fingers to keyboard.
As a bonus for you, here are a bunch of posts in one day …….

What a wonderful Christmas all-round eh! Despite being ill, the kids were all happy, Jules was happy and we all had a fantastic time. I’ve even gotten round to updating the PHP in the site to turn the custom HTML into widgets – which, believe it or not, has sped things up a bit.
All that’s left to do now is get Activision off their lazy arses and replace the drum kit on the Guitar Heroes game and spend a couple of months giving the credit card some much needed tlc.
Even diesel has now dropped to 96p a litre – which is an absolute treat. Atomic has stopped losing oil, Gina’s got (another) boyfriend – so she’s happy, the Jenster’s back at school – so she’s happy ……. blimey, must be a nightmare round the corner somewhere.
Happy new year to all of you!

Stapelfahrer Klaus:

…. and if you’re (I’m guessing) some form of Scandinavian, then you might be able to tell me what the hell this is all about;

What about that then – my first hit from Kazakstan! (Actually, the above – which is how you actually spell “Yeskshamesh” is Polish, not Kazakh)
Anyway, digging through the old intranet server here, I stumbled upon a whole bunch of unusual odds and sods that I’ve had kicking around for years and years. To re-introduce them to the internet and keep the traditions alive, I’ll start posting them up.
Here’s the first – the beautful 16K

Shelby, Shelby, Shelby – you little sod.
As you can probably guess from the image, Shelby has been in the dog-house this week. Utilising the cat-flap to the best of her ability, the neighbours phoned up lunchtime mid-week to let us know that she was sitting in the middle of the pavement contemplating the world and then, the next day, whilst Jules was in the kitchen, the Shelberator decided that she’d pop down the local park by herself.
Never fear though! I have employed an Enterprise solution to customise the cat-flap and all appears to be well for the moment.
Other than that, the site is now listed upon Stumbleupon and is really banging traffic in now – lovely, thank you.
It’s been a busy week – hence the update today and not more recently. I will, however, bung some more Ubuntu tips up in the next day or so – as the CTRL+ALT+DEL page is proving an absolute winner.
Not only, but also – for no particular reason – I’m going to add a to-do/to-want page for Atomic and, get this, I’m going to get my hair cut. Fantastic! I’m looking too much like cousin Devon at the moment.
Catch you soon!
